- The Duquesne University women's golf team opens its 2025 spring campaign and first championship season this weekend by traveling to Melbourne, Fla., to take part in the Columbia Classic at Duran Golf Club.

- The Columbia Classic is the first of three tournaments the Dukes will compete at in the state of Florida. The 2025 spring schedule also includes the NKU Spring Fling in Vero Beach, Fla., in March, as well as the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship in Orlando, Fla., in April.

- Duquesne competed in four tournaments last fall, including a finish of
fourth place out of 11 teams at the Red Flash Invitational in Westmont, Pa., at Sunnehanna Country Club.

- At the conclusion of each of the four fall tournaments for the Dukes, a freshman was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. Freshman
Sasha Petrochko earned the honor three times, while junior
Lindsey Powanda was
also bestowed the plaudit.

- Petrochko was also named the
Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week after her performance at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational in Boardman, Ohio, at Millcreek Golf Course. Over the course of 36 holes, Petrochko handed in a 146 (+2) to finish in a tie for seventh individually.

- Petrochko also earned the first medalist honor in program history at the Red Flash Invitational with a 36-hole score of 148 (+4). She carded a 70 (-2) in the second round, the only round under par by a student-athlete during the event.

- Women's golf was added in April of 2022 at Duquesne along with triathlon and acrobatics & tumbling, with acrobatics & tumbling making its
debut as an NCAA program Friday against Gannon at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. Triathlon made its debut during the 2023-24 season.

- Tabbed as the first head coach in program history is
Colleen Meyers, who was selected to lead Duquesne in August of 2023. She spent two seasons as an assistant coach with Carnegie Mellon from 2021 to 2023 and also was the head coach at Oakland Catholic High School from 2015 to 2023.

- Sewickley Heights Golf Club
serves as the home of Duquesne golf. Founded in 1961, the course is used for practice for the program and has also hosted the United States Women's Amateur in 1966 and the Champion's Pittsburgh Senior Classic in 1998.

- The field for the Columbia Classic includes 12 teams. Columbia serves as host, and other teams competing along with the Dukes are Boston U., Dartmouth, Emory, Illinois State, Marshall, Penn, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Seton Hall and Youngstown State. A total of 71 players will compete this weekend across the 12 teams along with 11 individuals.

- Duran Golf Club is a par 72 course and totals 6,312 yards. The format is 54 total holes, including two rounds Saturday and the final 18 Sunday.
