Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's golf team continued its 2026 spring schedule this weekend, finishing fifth out of 11 teams in Vero Beach, Fla., at the NKU Spring Fling. Over the course of 54 holes, the Dukes carded a 960 (321, 325, 314) at Sandridge Golf Club.
TEAM LEADERBOARD
Winning the team title at the NKU Spring Fling was Bucknell, which finished 10 strokes ahead of St. John's with a 54-hole score of 911. Purdue Fort Wayne (936) claimed third, seven strokes ahead of the host Norse. Trailing Duquesne and rounding out the field was Holy Cross (968), Monmouth (973), Eastern Illinois (974), Southern Indiana (975), Detroit Mercy (976) and Mercyhurst (991).
THE FIELD
Among 63 participants at the NKU Spring Fling, sophomore
Sasha Petrochko garnered a top 20 finish, tying for 16th with Delaney Nadeau of Monmouth. The pair each handed in a 236, with Petrochko opening with a 76 before carding a 79 in round two and an 81 in the final round. Finishing just outside the top 20 was senior
Lindsey Powanda, who finished two strokes behind Petrochko at 238. Opening with an 82, Powanda closed with a 78 in both rounds two and three. She collected a total of seven birdies throughout the competition, including four in round two. On the par five, 485-yard hole at No. 12 in the second round, Powanda collected a birdie, doing so again on a par five at hole No. 2 in the same round, this one which measured 496 yards.
THE LINEUP
Taking the biggest jump in the final day of the tournament Sunday was sophomore
Abby Slankster, who handed in a 77. She moved up five spots in the rankings to finish 26th with a 54-hole score of 240. She opened with a 79 before carding an 84 in round two. Freshman
Lilly Powell would close the NKU Spring Fling with a 246 (84, 84, 78), while playing as an individual, freshman
Ashley von Behren posted a 253 (86, 81, 86). Sophomore
Paige Meyers handed in a 267 (89, 91, 87).
UP NEXT
The Dukes will conclude the regular season Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, by competing in the Bermuda Triangle Collegiate, which takes place at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton Parish, Bermuda.
