Dukes Open in Fourth at A-10 Championship

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's golf team opened play Monday in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship at Evermore Resort in Orlando, Fla., carding a 332 to sit in fourth place.
 
TEAM LEADERBOARD
Richmond jumped out to the early lead Monday, finishing at 307 to own an 11-stroke advantage over Dayton (318). Loyola Chicago (322) sits third, 10 strokes ahead of the Dukes. Saint Joseph's (360) and La Salle (383) round out the field as Duquesne is competing in its second Atlantic 10 Championship in program history.
 
THERE SHE GOES
Sophomore Sasha Petrochko sits in the top 10 individually for the Dukes after the first day of action, as she carded a 79 to sit in a tie for sixth with Addie Doroh of Richmond. Maya Beasley of the Spiders fired a 73 to sit atop the leaderboard, with six strokes separating the top seven golfers in the competition. Petrochko was +2 after nine holes and posted each of her birdies on the back nine, both of which came on a par three. Her first came on No. 11, which measures 138 yards, while her second came on hole No. 17, which sits 133 yards from tee to pin. Petrochko was one of two golfers to average under par on holes that are a par three Monday, averaging 2.75 (-1). Etta Huffman of Dayton finished -2 on the same holes en route to four birdies in the first round, the highest total of the 30 competitors.
 
THE LINEUP
Senior Lindsey Powanda and sophomore Abby Slankster each sit in a tie for 14th individually after opening the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship with an 84. Powanda's lone birdie of the round came on the second longest hole of the course, a 479-yard par five at No. 9, while Slankster finished with a team-high 10 pars in the first round. Freshman Lilly Powell, in her debut at Evermore Resort, finished a stroke behind Powanda and Slankster with an 85, while freshman Ashley von Behren also competed in her first round at Evermore Resort, closing with a 97.
 
UP NEXT
Round two of the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship begins at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, with von Behren teeing off first for Duquesne at 7:30 a.m.
