Edinboro, Pa. – The Duquesne men's tennis team opened its season with a 4-3 win over Edinboro in the team's only fall head-to-head matchup on Sunday.
The Dukes took the first two doubles matchups, with wins coming from the teams of junior
Gianluca Citadini and sophomore
Uvan Patel (7-5) before senior
Alfrendo Vogelaar and sophomore
Aril Kayra Tuna secured a 7-5 win. Duquesne earned the first point of the match from the wins in doubles play.
The Dukes and Fighting Scots split the six singles matchups with Edinboro claiming the first two matches. Citadini took the third match 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 before Edinboro took a 3-2 lead after claiming the fourth match. Vogelaar (6-1, 6-2) and sophomore
Enrique Lana (6-1, 6-1) completed Duquesne's comeback with back-to-back victories at the final two spots.
