Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne men's tennis team continued its fall schedule over the weekend, competing at the CMU Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon. The Dukes faced Bucknell, Edinboro and host Carnegie Mellon throughout the three-day event.

DAY 1 vs. BUCKNELL
Duquesne competed against Bucknell on Friday, with the Dukes earning three victories in doubles play while Bucknell claimed four singles matches.

The Dukes opened the day by taking the doubles point, securing victories across all four listed doubles matches. The pairing of senior Gianluca Citadini and junior Aril Kaya Tuna picked up a 6-4 victory over Enoch Lin and Brady Friesen, while senior Austin Lai and junior Teo Papadopoulos cruised to a 6-2 win against Will Robinson and Vlad Dombrovskyi. Juniors Uvan Patel and Tancredi Alfano added a 7-6(5) triumph over Nelson Alapi and Jovan Morales, and sophomores Zidaan Hassan and Alejandro Ochoa completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 victory over Bush and Yuan.

Bucknell responded in singles action, winning four of the matches listed on the sheet. Tuna battled Kilmer before falling in two tiebreak sets, 7-6(3), 7-6(5), while Garcia dropped a three-set battle to Lin, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6. Citadini fell to Robinson, 6-4, 6-2, while Alfano was defeated by Friesen, 6-4, 6-4. Hassan also dropped her match to Alapi, 6-3, 6-4, and Papadopoulos battled Bush before falling, 6-2, 5-7, 10-7.

DAY 2 vs. EDINBORO
The Dukes turned in a strong performance against Edinboro, earning victories in two of three doubles matches and four of six singles contests.

Duquesne opened doubles play with Lai and Tuna securing a 6-2 victory over Arsen Tabaldyev and Philipp Paulus. Citadini and Patel followed with a 6-4 win against Gerardo Garrido Guzman and Fergus McFadzean to give the Dukes two doubles victories. Ochoa and Garcia battled Duarte Correia and Emiel Tidman before Edinboro claimed a 6-3 decision.

The Dukes carried their momentum into singles play, winning four of six matches. Lai opened with a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 victory over Correia, while Ochoa followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Paulus. Wu battled back after dropping the opening set to Garrido, earning a 6-7(5), 6-4, 10-8 victory in a tightly contested match. Hassan closed out the day for Duquesne with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over McFadzean. Edinboro earned a pair of singles victories, with Tabaldyev defeating Citadini, 6-2, 6-0, and Vasconcellos topping Papadopoulos, 6-4, 6-4.

DAY 3 vs. CMU
The Dukes ended the tree day event battling the host Carnegie Mellon, collecting two doubles victories and four singles wins during the matchup.

Duquesne opened the competition by claiming two of the four doubles matches. Lai and Tuna earned a 6-3 victory over Miller and Bart, while Garcia and Citadini followed with a 6-4 win against Fernando and Gershon. Patel and Papadopoulos fell to Yu and Larionov, 6-4, while Wu and Hassan dropped a 6-1 decision to Feies and Chavez.

The Dukes continued to battle in singles play, earning four victories. Garcia rallied past Larionov, 2-6, 6-4, 10-5, while Wu also battled back after dropping the opening set, defeating Miller, 7-6(4), 5-7, 10-8. Papadopoulos added another three-set victory, edging Fernando, 7-6(3), 5-7, 10-5. Hassan provided Duquesne's fourth singles win, overcoming Gershon, 6-4, 5-7, 11-9, in another closely contested match. CMU picked up three singles victories, with Feies defeating Lai, 6-2, 6-4, Yu topping Citadini, 6-3, 6-3, and Chavez earning a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Alfano.
