Youngstown, Ohio – The Duquesne University men's tennis team continued its fall portion of its schedule this weekend, competing at the YSU Invitational.
Senior
Alfrendo Vogelaar was the highlight of the weekend for the Dukes as he captured the B Flight single championship. He opened the weekend with a bye in the round of 16 before capturing a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Duarte Correia of Edinboro in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Vogelaar battled Leon Chen of Case Western Reserve, securing a 6-2, 6-2 victory to earn a spot in the championship. The senior would capture the title after defeating Lean Grassnickel of Edinboro with a final score of 6-3, 3-6, (12-10).
Sophomore
Tancredi Alfano also competed in the B Flight. Capturing a 5-7, 6-4 (10-7) victory over Luke Saylor of Case Western in the round of 16 before dropping a 2-6, 1-6 match to Mihai Haita in the quarterfinals. Sophomore
Teo Papadopoulos dropped a 2-6, 1-6 Leon Chen in the round of 16 in the B Flight.
Three Dukes battled in the A Flight as junior
Austin Lai fell to Dominik Vonbank of YSU 5-7, 6-7 (13-11) before sophomore
Enrique Lana dropped a 3-6, 3-6 decision to Andrew Spurck of Xavier in the round of 16. Classmate
Aril Kayra Tuna was the final Duquesne player to compete in the A Flight, falling to Nick Herdozia of Xavier 1-6, 4-6.
Senior
Pierce Manning and sophomore
Uvan Patel each competed in Flight C, where both earned a bye in the round of 16. Manning dropped a 0-6, 1-6 match to Alex Woiten of YSU while Patel fell to Justin Prochnow of Case Western, 3-6, 0-6.

Duquesne returns to action on Sept. 26-27 when it travels across town to compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
