Pittsburgh, Pa. – Junior
Alfrendo Vogelaar of the Duquesne University men's tennis team was named to the 2025 Academic All-District® Team, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
The prestigious academic award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Vogelaar, a native of The Hague, Netherlands, has distinguished himself both academically and athletically while pursuing a degree in accounting, maintaining a strong cumulative GPA of 3.86. On the court, the junior tied for the team lead with four doubles victories, competing primarily at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. He earned three of those wins at the top spot and shared the team lead with a 2-2 record against conference opponents. Notable doubles performances included a 7-5 win at Saint Joseph's in the No. 2 slot and a 6-3 road victory at George Mason later in the season.
In singles play, Vogelaar competed across the top three positions, earning three victories over the course of the season. He notched a hard-fought 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 comeback win over Niagara before capturing his first conference singles victory at Saint Joseph's with a resilient 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 performance in March. In April, he added another singles win against Tyler Nguyen of Saint Francis, contributing to the Dukes' push to secure the No. 8 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
This marks the second consecutive season that Vogelaar has earned a spot on the prestigious All-District® Team.
