Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's and women's tennis teams are set to compete at the Atlantic 10 Championships this week at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. The men's tournament will run from Wednesday, April 23 through Saturday, April 26 while the women's is from Thursday, April 24 through Sunday, April 27.

The Dukes enter the conference championships riding a five-match winning streak, highlighted by three consecutive A-10 victories. Duquesne earned the No. 6 seed with a strong 10-7 overall record and an impressive 5-1 mark in conference play. They'll face No. 11 seed George Mason on Thursday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m., with the winner advancing to meet No. 3 seed Richmond on Friday, April 25. This will be the second meeting of the season between the Dukes and the Patriots, with Duquesne previously securing a 4-1 win in Fairfax, Va. earlier in the year.
Senior
Kaya Rand has led the way for the Dukes this season, compiling an impressive 11-6 record in singles play, including a strong 7-3 mark over her last 10 matches. Primarily competing at the No. 2 spot, Rand has posted a solid 7-4 record in that position. Junior
Taisia Yakunina has also been a consistent contributor, recording a 9-5 overall singles record with a matching 7-3 run in her last 10 outings. She has seen action across the No. 3 through No. 5 slots, finding her greatest success at No. 5, where she holds a 4-2 record. At the top of the lineup, sophomore

Alexandra O'Brien has made an impact in her debut season, gaining momentum late with four straight singles wins and a 6-3 record over her last nine matches.
In doubles play, the duo of Rand and Badics has led the way for the Dukes, posting an impressive 8-2 overall record while competing at the No. 1 spot. Entering the tournament on a four-match winning streak, the pair has also gone 2-1 in conference action. Meanwhile, the freshman tandem of

Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez has found success in the No. 3 doubles position, compiling a 7-4 overall record and riding a five-match win streak. The duo has gone 7-3 over its last 10 outings and holds a 2-1 mark against A-10 opponents

Duquesne saw its two-match winning streak come to an end in the regular season finale, falling 5-2 to Mercyhurst to close out the year with a 4-10 overall record and a 1-4 mark in conference play. The Dukes earned the No. 8 seed in the 10-team, single-elimination tournament and will face No. 9 seed Saint Louis on Wednesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the Dukes and Billikens this season and the 10th matchup in the all-time series. The winner will move on to face top-seeded Dayton on Thursday, April 24 at 4:30 p.m.
Freshman
Arnau Anton Garcia has posted a 4-5 overall record in singles play this season, competing across the No. 2, 3, and 4 spots in the lineup. Fellow freshman
Teo Papadopoulos has gained momentum recently, winning his last two matches and going 4-3 over his last seven appearances. He has primarily held down the No. 6 position, where he owns a 4-4 record on the year. Another freshman,
Enrique Lana, enters the tournament riding a three-match winning streak, with two of those victories coming at No. 5 singles and one at the No. 4 spot.
In doubles competition, the junior duo of
Keita Duclos and
Alfrendo Vogelaar has recorded a 4-3 mark over their last seven matches, primarily competing at the No. 1 position. The pair closed out the regular season with strong performances, earning a 6-1 win over Saint Francis followed by a 7-5 victory against Mercyhurst. Meanwhile, freshmen
Uvan Patel and
Arnau Anton Garcia have contributed with a 1-1 record in conference play and a 2-3 mark overall on the season.
