Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's golf team concluded its 2025 fall season Sunday, closing seventh out of 15 teams in Bedminster, N.J., at the Lehigh Invitational. Over 36 holes, the Dukes posted a 646 (327, 319).
TEAM LEADERBOARD
The host Mountain Hawks earned the team title at the Lehigh Invitational, carding a 306 on the first day of action Saturday before finishing at 303 Sunday to hand in a 609, one stroke better than Penn (610). The Quakers earned the best round Sunday with a 301 and opened with a 309. Old Dominion was also in the hunt for the team championship, finishing at 611 (304, 307), just one stroke behind Penn and two behind Lehigh. Navy (623) finished fourth, Fairfield (628) fifth and Monmouth (636) earned sixth, 10 strokes ahead of Duquesne. Trailing the Dukes and rounding out the field were FDU (647), Merrimack (652), New Haven (654), Stonehill (660), Saint Francis (663), Providence (690), Saint Joseph's (695) and La Salle (730).

Leading Duquesne individually at the Lehigh Invitational was sophomore
Sasha Petrochko, who finished in a three-way tie for 12th, just a stroke off another top 10 finish. She carded a 77 both Saturday and Sunday to finish at 154, tying with both Maggie Ni (78, 76) of Penn and Una Johnson (79, 75) of Navy, who was playing as an individual. Petrochko finished with a pair of birdies in the event, including the 338-yard par four at No. 13 on the first day of competition as well as the 163-yard par three at No. 6 on the final day of action.
IN THE MIDDLE
A total of four Dukes were bunched in the middle of the field at the Lehigh Invitational, including sophomores
Abby Slankster,
Paige Meyers and
Katie Caryl as well as freshman
Lilly Powell. Slankster carded a 164 (83, 81), both Meyers and Powell finished a stroke behind at 165 and Caryl closed at 166 (78, 79). Meyers opened the tournament with a 77 before carding an 89 in round two, while Powell posted a 79 in the first round before handing in an 87 in the final round.
WHERE EAGLES DARE
Junior
Lindsey Powanda collected the first eagle in program history Sunday in the second round of the Lehigh Invitational. On the 296-yard par four at No. 12, Powanda found the zone to finish the hole in two shots. Overall she closed with an 82 during the round and for the event posted a 172 after opening with a 90 in the first round.
UP NEXT
The 2025 fall season complete, Duquesne begins prep for the spring, which begins with the Columbia Classic Saturday, Feb. 7, through Monday, Feb. 9. The tournament takes place in Melbourne, Fla., at Duran Golf Club and it marks the second consecutive year the Dukes will compete in the event.
