PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne men's and women's tennis teams will begin its Spring 2021 slate on Sunday against St. Bonaventure. The men kick off its season against the Bonnies at 11:00 a.m., while the women will start its season at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Bonaventure Fitness Center.

The women are coming off a 5-6 shortened season in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Duquesne women's team returns Meredith Lee, who posted a 11-7 record in singles and 9-8 record in doubles for a 20-15 overall record. Sophomore Daniela Latoni posted a 18-10 record a season ago, which included a 10-5 record during the spring. Other returners include Priyanka Mitta, Natasha Novak Newcomers and Margot Pessy, while freshmen Amulika Gottiparthy, Ellen Shanahan and Ana Utrilla Benito join the squad.

On the men's side, the Dukes graduate its all-time singles and wins leader in Jared Isaacs. However, the Dukes do return Alex Mascioli (23-21) and Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal (19-21) who combined to post 42 wins a season ago. Jin Dassanayake, Joey Matthews and Arnas Sabonis return, while the Dukes welcome Kaipo Marshall, Tamirlan Teberikov and Bode Vance to the roster.

Vanessa Steiner enters her fifth season as the Duquesne Director of Tennis, while assistant coach Will Reifeis enters his first season on the Bluff. Reifeis previously served as an assistant for Valparaiso's women's tennis team the past two seasons.

The Duquesne women are currently scheduled to compete 10 dual matches, including seven in Atlantic 10 play, while the men are slated for nine matches with six coming in Atlantic 10 play. Both the men's and women's schedules are subject to change
