ORLANDO, Fla. - The Duquesne men's tennis team advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship quarterfinals with a 4-1 victory over Saint Joseph's in a first round contest on Thursday morning at the USTA National Campus in the Sunshine State.
The Dukes have won six of their last seven matches, improving to 13-10 with the triumph on Thursday.
Duquesne took control early on when
Jared Isaacs and
Alex Mascioli won by a score of 6-2 at No. 1 doubles before
Dane Bendel and
Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal
clinched the doubles point for the Dukes with a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position.
Rodriguez-Vidal kept it rolling for Duquesne in singles action, putting the Dukes ahead 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 slot.
Nathan Perrone got the Hawks on the board with a win at No. 1 singles, but Isaacs would claim a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 before
Joey Matthews clinched the match for Duquesne with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 6 for the Dukes.
