Box Score Feb. 6, 2017 WEEKEND RECAP:
The Duquesne men's tennis team recorded a pair of victories over the weekend with wins over Carnegie Mellon (5-2) on Friday and Saint Joseph's (5-2) Sunday. Both matches were held at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center.
Duquesne 5, Carnegie Mellon 2
The Dukes won five of the six singles points, with Adam Blasinsky (7-5, 6-0), Andrew Ong (7-5, 7-5), Jared Isaacs (6-0, 6-1) and Dane Bendel (6-3, 7-6) taking straight set victories. Chris Corrao won the #3 in three sets (4-6, 6-2, 1-0). CMU would take two of the three doubles points, with the team of Isaacs and Dimitris Stavropoulos recording a 6-4 victory.
Duquesne 5, Saint Joseph's 2
Saint Joseph's took the #1 to open singles competition, winning in three sets (6-7, 6-3, 6-1). Blasinsky (6-4, 6-3), Corrao (6-2, 6-1), Ong (6-4, 6-4) and Issacs (7-6, 6-2) each had straight set victories, with SJU taking the #6 (6-7, 6-4, 6-4) in a tie breaker.
The Dukes swept doubles competition with the teams of Blaskinsky/Corrao (7-5), Ong/Bendel (6-1) and Issacs/Stavropoulos (6-2) collecting wins.
The match opened Atlantic 10 Conference play for Duquesne.
