Duquesne University's men's tennis lost all three road matches this past weekend prior to their annual spring trek to the warmer climes in Florida. The Dukes are 6-6 midway through the 2005-06 season.
Toledo grabbed a 6-1 win over the Dukes on Friday, February 24, Dayton shut out DU, 7-0, Saturday, and Wright State took the Red and Blue, 5-2, on Sunday.
Senior Rob Ojeda won two of his three singles matches, first over the Rocket's Josh Moran via 10-8 tiebreaker game and then a straight set win past WSU's Dan Sundersingh. Dayton's David Peyton topped the Puerto Rican native, also vis a straight set victory.
Sophomore Blake Williams picked up a singles win on Sunday, losing only one game to the Raiders's Michael Hall. Senior Devon Peightal and sophomore Adam Townsend won DU's sole doubles match this weekend, 8-2 over Wright State's Dan Sundersingh and Tim Hershner.
The Dukes head to Orlando, Florida next weekend for their annual trip into warmer climes. The Red and Blue have four matches on their schedule: at Stetson in Deland, Fla. on Monday, March 6th; at Division II Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Tuesda; against another traveling team, Old Dominion, on Wednesday in Orlando; and, the Dukes close the series at Bethune-Cookman on Thursday, March 9, 2006.
