Dukes Finish Second at Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships

Fairfax, Va. – The Duquesne University women's track and field team tied its program-best finish, placing second at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships hosted by George Mason. The Dukes totaled 109 points, matching the best finish in program history. It marks the fourth time Duquesne has finished as runner-up and the program's top result since 2017.

Duquesne earned five medals on Day Two, including three golds, led by two from junior Anna Rorrer.

The men's team scored 55 points to finish fifth, adding four medals on the final day, highlighted by program records from freshman Nick Keller and junior Christian Cupp.

MEDALISTS
Women's Team
  • Junior Anna Rorrer won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.05 to secure gold. She added a second gold in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 59.41 — the third-fastest time in program history — diving across the line to edge the runner-up.
  • Rose Kuchera won the triple jump with a mark of 12.38 meters (40-7.5), earning her second medal of the weekend (long jump: bronze) and fourth career medal in just her second season.
  • Freshman Sylvia Kashak took silver in the 800 meters with a time of 2:10.56.
  • Mia Pierce captured silver in the discus with a throw of 47.39 meters (155-5).
Men's Team
  • Freshman Nick Keller lowered his own program record in the 400 meters for the second time this weekend, clocking 46.75 to take bronze.
  • Christian Cupp set a new program record in the decathlon, winning gold with 7,234 points. He finished first in three events — the 100 meters (10.87), long jump (7.44m) and 400 meters (48.76) — and placed among the top three in nine of the 10 events.
  • Sophomore Colm Matheney claimed bronze in the decathlon with a personal-best 6,711 points, improving his No. 2 mark on the Duquesne all-time list. Matheney won the pole vault portion of the decathlon, clearing 4.15 meters.
  • Freshman Dino Nadarevic took bronze in the discus with a throw of 48.77 meters (160-0).
SCORERS
Women's Team
  • Melani Schmidt placed fifth in the 400 meters (56.05) and added an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters (25.92).
  • Eva Leatherman improved her No. 5 standing on the Duquesne all-time list with a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.64).
  • Caroline Garbe tied her season best in the high jump, clearing 1.68 meters (5-6) to place fifth.
  • Isabella Costa finished fifth in the heptathlon with 4,722 points, while Brandi Brozeski placed sixth with 4,684. The totals now rank No. 4 and No. 5 on the Duquesne all-time list.
  • Madelyn Moretti finished sixth in the shot put (13.02m / 42-8.75).
  • Kuchera was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (14.57).
  • Lauren Stroka took seventh in the triple jump (11.80m / 38-8.75).
  • The 4x800-meter (9:03.69) and 4x400-meter relay (3:49.33) both finished seventh.
Men's Team
  • Nadarevic added a 15.16m (49-9) fourth place of shot put.
  • Keller also ran to a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters (21.73) to go along with his bronze in the 400 meters.
  • Isaac Wetzel (55.29) and Colm McGroarty (57.17) placed sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles.
  • The 4x400-meter relay placed fifth in 3:15.06, while the 4x800-meter relay finished sixth in 7:35.35.
DAY ONE
Duquesne opened the championships with four medals, all in field events, on Saturday. Nadia Constantakis earned bronze in the pole vault, while Makayla Keck (silver) and Mary Grusky (bronze) reached the podium in the javelin. Rose Kuchera added a bronze in the long jump. FOLLOW THE DUKES
