Pittsburgh, Pa. – Freshman
Taylor Miller of the Duquesne University bowling team was selected as the Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week Wednesday. In collecting the first honor of the 2026 calendar year from the conference, Miller also earns her third top rookie weekly honor of the 2025-26 season.
At the Northeast Classic this past weekend in New Castle, Del., at Bowlerama, Miller averaged an overall fill percentage of 90 percent in traditional play, a career high, in posting an average frame score of 18.46. She also finished with an average of 8.72 on her first ball and was successful on 91.4 percent (32-of-35) of her makeable spare attempts.
In a field that featured 229 participants, Miller tied for 74th individually in traditional action, averaging 184.60 in five games. She fired a 214 in the opener against No. 6 Wichita State and also rolled a 190 as the Dukes defeated No. 14 Sam Houston State.
Miller was also
named the NEC Rookie of the Week Oct. 22, 2025, after her NCAA Division I debut at the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic and
again Nov. 5, 2025, after her performance at Destination Orlando. She is the seventh bowler in program history to be named the NEC Rookie of the Week at least three times and the first since junior
Maribeth Baker earned the accolade five times during the 2023-24 season.
Overall this year, Miller, a native of Lititz, Pa., has completed 617 frames and owns an average score of 18.83 to go along with an average first ball of 8.84 and an 82.1 fill percentage. She also owns a makeable spare percentage of 81.3 percent (247-for-304) and a strike percentage of 40.7 percent (253-of-621).
In addition to the top weekly rookie honor for Miller, senior
Emma Siekierski and Baker were both named NEC Prime Performers. Baker finished 18th individually in traditional play with an average of 212.80 in five games, while Siekierski closed in 47th with an average of 198.80.
Led by head coach
Jody Fetterhoff, the Dukes now get set to host their first in-season tournament in program history with the Duquesne Invitational. Action begins at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes Friday, Jan. 30, and concludes Sunday, Feb. 1, with the field featuring Bowie State, Maryland Eastern Shore, Mount St. Mary's, Niagara and Tulane.
