PREVIEW: Dukes Return to Action at Youngstown State on Friday

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University indoor track and field team returns to action Friday, opening the New Year at the YSU Collegiate Invitational.

DUQUESNE ENTRIES ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO!
  • After a 41-day break between meets to open the season, Duquesne begins a stretch of five consecutive meet weekends starting Friday.
  • The run includes two additional trips to Ohio next Saturday (Jan. 24) at the Ashland Invitational and Feb. 14 at the Spire Collegiate Invitational, with a pair of visits to Penn State in between on Jan. 30–Feb. 1 and Feb. 7.
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Dukes opened the indoor season Dec. 5 at the YSU Ice Breaker, highlighted by a program-record performance from sophomore Rose Kuchera in the long jump (6.08m / 19-11.5).
  • Duquesne recorded six top-five finishes at the meet, while seven Dukes made their collegiate debuts. Among them was Melani Schmidt, who etched her name into DU's all-time indoor 60-meter top five.

  • Duquesne welcomes 16 freshmen to the roster this season while returning 30 athletes, including 15 sophomores, seven juniors and eight seniors.
  • Following Kuchera's record-setting performance in the season opener, the Dukes feature three active indoor program record holders: Caroline Garbe (high jump), Nadia Constantakis (pole vault) and Kuchera (long jump).
