Morgantown, W.Va. – The Duquesne University swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the WVU Invitational on Saturday afternoon, registering a fourth-place finish.
The Dukes totaled 1,137.5 points after the three day event to be tabbed fourth. West Virginia took the top spot with 1,941 points, followed by William & Mary with 1,169. Georgetown finished in third with 1,257 points as Drexel rounded out the top five with 1,022.5 points.
Sophomore
Sierra Snow highlighted the day for the Dukes with a gold-medal performance in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in a personal-best time of 1:55.79. Freshman
Norah Kotnik also impressed in the event, posting a season-best 2:01.35 in the B Final.
Duquesne placed two swimmers in the A Final of the 200 breaststroke. Sophomore
Jess Burns recorded a season-best 2:16.31 to earn a fourth-place finish, while senior
Sydney Severini followed closely behind, touching in at 2:17.34 to take sixth.
In the 200-yard butterfly, senior
Claudia Rzeznik finished seventh with a season-best time of 2:04.83, while freshman
Kira Schrecongost (2:06.13) and junior
Julia Sobun (2:07.66) competed in the B Final. Senior
Aislinn Mooney posted a season-best 17:26.58 in the 1650 freestyle, with freshman
Danica Wight finishing close behind at 17:35.14.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, sophomores
Kaitlyn Connors,
Ashley Freel, Emersen Snow, and freshman
Lucy Backus combined for a time of 3:24.77, placing fourth out of 18 teams.

Duquesne will be off until December, when the team travels to Austin, Texas, to compete in the Toyota U.S. Open at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center from December 4-6.
