Morgantown, W.Va. – The Duquesne University swimming and diving team continued its strong showing at the WVU Invitational on Friday, earning two medals and posting three new top-10 program times.
Through two days of competition, the Dukes stand in third place with 815.5 points. William & Mary maintains its lead with 1,245 points, followed closely by host West Virginia at 1,244. Georgetown sits in fourth with 779 points, and Drexel rounds out the top five at 682.5
Sophomore
Sierra Snow and senior
Sydney Severini led the Dukes on day two of competition. Snow earned a silver medal in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.86, marking one of the top-10 performances in program history. She also delivered a personal best and CSCAA B-cut time of 4:25.56 in the 400 IM, placing fifth.
Severini added the Dukes' second medal of the day, tying for third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a season-best CSCAA B-cut time of 1:03.19.Two additional Dukes produced top-10 program times on Friday.
Ashley Freel clocked 55.50 in the 100 back during the C Final, while senior
Claudia Rzeznik recorded a personal-best 54.87 in the 100-yard butterfly to finish fifth, another standout mark in program history.
In the 200 medley relay, the quartet of sophomores

Lucy Backus clocked a 1:42.23 to finish fourth. Howard went on to post a season-best 55.66 in the 100 fly during the B Final. In the 200 freestyle, sophomore
Kaitlyn Connors and junior
Lexi Sundgren both delivered strong swims, with Connors recording a season-best 1:51.61 and Sundgren close behind at 1:51.69 in the B Final.
Burns joined Severini in the 100 breaststroke, registering a season-best 1:03.28 to finish fifth, while freshman
Kira Schrecongost added a 1:07.51 in the B Final. In the evening session, Sundgren, Connors, Freel, and Snow teamed up in the 800-yard freestyle relay, touching at 7:30.23 to place fifth and close out the swimming events.
On the diving side, two Dukes competed in the one-meter event. Senior
Ashley Felitsky led the way with a fifth-place finish, scoring 246.15, while sophomore
Brianne Dempsey earned eighth with a final score of 221.35.
