TYRONE, Pa. -- Casey Padgett began his senior season by winning his first career meet at the Saint Francis Father Bede Invitational on Saturday. Padgett clocked in at 19:02.60, more than four seconds in front of second place, to lead 10 Dukes in the top 17 at the season-opening race.
MEET RESULTS
Duquesne won the meet by 20 points, totaling 25 as the top-five DU runners all were in the top 10.
Freshmen
Gio Mastromonaco (19:17.00) and
Ben Shields (19:46.20) made their Duquesne debuts placing fourth and ninth, respectively.
Junior
Nathaniel Woshner raced inside the top five for the first time in his career with a 19:18.20. Sophomore
Cameron Bogdan followed in sixth with a 19:22.00.
Jonah Nizami (19:49.30 - 11th place),
Sam de la Riva (19:50.70 - 12th place),
Mason Stewart (19:51.90 - 13th place),
Anthony Ciecierski (19:59.40 - 14th place) and
Jack Barnhisel (20:13.50 - 15th place) finished consecutively, while
Jacob Bonnar rounded out the double-digit Dukes in the top 17 with a 20:18.30.

Duquesne will have a week off, then travel to Penn State for the Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday, September 13.
