EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The Duquesne cross country teams raced at the University of Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational on Friday, finishing 10th on the men's side and 13th on the women's side.
Sophomore
Ben Shields paced the men, crossing 51st overall out of 162 runners with a time of 24:55.7. Shields has been the team leader in all four races he has competed in this season.
Sam de la Riva (26:01.7, 92nd) recorded his highest team finish of the season as the second Duke across the line.
Nathaniel Woshner (26:04.2, 95th),
Anthony Ciecierski (26:09.3, 98th) and
Mason Stewart (26:12.2, 99th) also scored, each finishing inside the top 100.
On the women's side, first-year runner
Sylvia Kashak led the team for the second time this season, finishing 78th out of 154 with a time of 22:26.2.
Sophia Trevenen (23:06.5, 103rd) posted her highest team finish of the season as the second Duke across the line. Freshman
Kendall Lucas (23:45.4, 119th) and juniors
Emma Andreen (23:48.1, 121st) and
Cydney Blahovec (24:00.0, 128th) rounded out the scoring.
Duquesne scored 291 points on the men's side and 401 on the women's side.

The Dukes have a week off before competing in the Atlantic 10 Championships on Nov. 1. The men will race the 8K at 10 a.m., followed by the women's 6K at 10:50 a.m. The meet, hosted by Dayton, will be held at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.
