Louisville, Ky. – The Duquesne University cross country teams competed at the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, with Ben Shields leading the men's team and Sylvia Kashak pacing the women's squad.

Shields finished 20th overall (out of 251) in the men's 8K, crossing in 24:25.6. Junior Sam Freedman followed in 59th at 25:09.6, with junior Anthony Ciecierski placing 76th in 25:23.2. Senior Mason Stewart finished 100th in 25:38.4, while first-year Evan Yurasko rounded out the Dukes' scoring five in 105th at 25:40.1. Duquesne finished 11th as a team among 24 programs.

Kashak led the women's team with a 28th-place finish (out of 240) in the 5K, clocking 18:13.5. Sophomore Lauren Ciuca followed in 71st at 18:51.3, while junior Grace Senneway finished 88th in 19:04.6. Freshman Elise Ashcroft placed 116th in 19:19.7, with sophomore Elizabeth Pizon completing the scoring five in 122nd at 19:21.7. The Dukes finished 15th among 24 teams.

The Dukes return to Youthtowne Fields in Clinton, Pa. next weekend for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday, October 10.
