Dukes Add Four to Inaugural Roster

Two from Michigan, two from Pennsylvania bolster Duquesne roster

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Duquesne University head women's golf coach Colleen Meyers announced the addition of four student-athletes Tuesday for the program's inaugural season in 2024-25.

Joining the Dukes are Katie Caryl, Katie Fodale, Paige Meyers and Abby Slankster. The quartet bolster the roster for Duquesne to six, as Sasha Petrochko and Lindsey Powanda signed with the Dukes in November of 2023.

"Each of the six players on the inaugural roster for Duquesne golf are impressive, competitive-minded individuals," head coach Colleen Meyers said. "They are exceptional students as well as exceptional athletes, and each are leaders who enjoy hard work and strive for excellence. I am so proud of how the team has taken shape. We're excited to represent Duquesne as the first women's golf team in school history."

"Katie is a remarkable individual," Colleen Meyers said. "She is very diligent, goal-oriented and hard working. Katie brings confidence and a track record of excellence, as she competed for a very successful team in high school. She has proven that she knows how to be a leader and a good teammate. Individually, Katie has competed in a variety of tournaments that have tested her game, and she has answered by breaking par multiple times during competition. Katie is a great player with a determination to succeed in everything she does. She's an outstanding addition to the roster, and I'm confident she'll contribute immediately."

Katie Fodale
Rochester, Mich. / Rochester Adams

"Katie is a very impressive two-sport athlete," Colleen Meyers said. "Not only is she a talented golfer, but he also could have competed at the collegiate level in alpine skiing. I'm thankful she ultimately chose golf and, more importantly, that she chose to play at Duquesne. Katie's determination, quick thinking and winning mentality are special qualities that will continue to grow her golf game. Her high school team won numerous state championships, and that experience will serve her well in the college environment. I'm excited to see what she'll accomplish over the next four years."

Paige Meyers

Four-year varsity member at Oakland Catholic, serving as a co-captain as a junior and captain as a senior … Posted three top 10 finishes at the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Championships, finishing 10th as a sophomore in 2021 and again as a junior in 2022 before claiming fifth in 2023 … Earned three finishes in the top three as part of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) … Consistent low scorer during high school career, recording an average of 78.0 ... "Paige is a strong addition to the roster for the Dukes," Colleen Meyers said. "She has a powerful, technically sound swing and is also a very confident player. Paige recently finished fifth in a AAA regional qualifier, earned fourth place in a AAA sectional tournament and finished in the top 20 at the AAA Pennsylvania State Championship, so she is on an impressive upward trajectory. Paige is consistent, gritty and determined, and she elevates her game when faced with competitive situations. I'm confident that she'll thrive in the college tournament setting."

"Abby is an exciting addition to the team," Colleen Meyers said. "She is a powerful player who caught my attention with her length and scoring potential. Her scores have been very impressive in a short amount of time, and I believe that she hasn't even scratched the surface. Abby led her team to a state championship, shooting an under-par score on the second day of competition. She's a steady player who knows how to handle herself in pressure situations on the course. Abby is a going to be a solid addition to the team and I'm excited to watch her grow her game and excel."

Led by Meyers, Duquesne will begin its first season as an NCAA Division I program in the fall of 2024. The Dukes recently announced that Sewickley Heights Golf Club will serve as the home of Duquesne golf.
