NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Duquesne freshman
Madelyn Moretti has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Track and Field Rookie of the Week after a record-setting outing at the CMU Last Chance Meet last Thursday.
Moretti set the shot put school record with a 14.48m (47' 6") mark on her first shot put of the finals, then added a 14.17m on her final attempt, as she holds four of the top-five marks in program history just a handful of meets into her first season. The 14.48m shot put places her second on the A-10 season leaderboard. The Madison, Ohio native went right over to the discus circle and took second place in the CMU meet with a long of 37.59m (123' 3").
Moretti, also the A-10 Rookie of the Week on March 21, is the first Duke to earn multiple Rookie of the Week honors in a season since Erica Moody claimed four in 2005.
Duquesne will be back in action this Saturday at the RMU Invite in Moon Township, Pa.
