Kuchera made three record-book edits for the Dukes, headlined by a 6.52-meter (21-4.75) long jump that shattered her previous program record by more than 17 inches. The jump is the top mark in the Atlantic 10 and Mid-Atlantic region and currently ranks sixth in NCAA Division I this season.
The Canonsburg, Pa., native posted a total of 3,694 points in her first career pentathlon — ranking third in program history — and ran an 8.79 in the 60-meter hurdles, moving into fourth on Duquesne's all-time list. Her pentathlon total also leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks eighth in the Mid-Atlantic region, while her 60-meter hurdle time ranks sixth in the conference this season.
The honor marks Kuchera's first Atlantic 10 Indoor Performer of the Week award. She was a two-time Rookie of the Week honoree last season, tying Shea McMillan (2001) and Sarah Como (2001) for the most by a Duke.
Costa recorded the best Atlantic 10 long jump by a freshman this season and ranks fourth overall after her 5.90-meter (19-4.25) jump placed her third on Duquesne's all-time list. The local Pittsburgh product charted season bests in four of the five pentathlon events.
The Dukes return to action this weekend at Penn State for the Sykes & Sabock Challenge on Saturday.
