University Park, Pa. – Sophomore
Rose Kuchera set a program record for the third time this season, breaking a triple jump mark that had stood since 2014, while
Sylvia Kashak ran the fastest 1,000-meter time by a Duquesne freshman in program history to lead the Dukes at the Penn State Sykes & Sabock Invitational on Saturday.

Kuchera captured the triple jump title with a school-record leap of 12.44 meters (40 feet, 9.75 inches) on her second attempt. The mark ranks second in the Atlantic 10 this season and sits among the top 10 in the Mid-Atlantic Region. She broke Brittney Edwards' 2014 school record by nearly a foot. Kuchera also posted an 8.73 in the 60-meter hurdles, tying for third all-time in program history.
Kashak placed second in the 1,000 meters, crossing in 2:51.94. The time ranks third in school history and stands as the fastest ever recorded by a Duquesne freshman.
Junior
Anna Rorrer moved to No. 2 all-time at Duquesne in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.71, finishing eighth overall in the finals.
In the 600 meters,
Cydney Blahovec (1:37.73) and
Trinity Basara (1:42.25) placed sixth and 10th, respectively, while
Grace Senneway finished eighth in the mile with a time of 5:13.39.
Lauren Stroka recorded a personal-best triple jump of 11.83 meters (38-9.75) to place fourth, followed by
Devlyn Faber in eighth at 11.57 meters (37-11.5).
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Melani Schmidt,
Isabella Costa,
Eva Leatherman and
Selma Bajgoric placed fourth in 3:50.27. Leatherman also added a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles.

Duquesne returns to Youngstown next Friday for the YSU Last Chance Invitational, its final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championships.
