Witteborg Named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week

Plays every minute of back-to-back shutout road wins

NORFOLK, VA. - Torge Witteborg (Dortmund, Germany) has been named Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Duquesne's back-to-back 1-0 road wins at Michigan and Cansius.

The junior co-captain, who logged all 180 minutes in the two games, scored his first career goal (37') to power the Dukes past U-M in Ann Arbor. The goal gave the Dukes their first win over a Power 5 school since 2003.

Seventy-two hours later, Witteborg anchored a back line that limited Canisius to just one shot on goal - in the 21st minute - in another 1-0 victory.

The two wins allowed the Dukes to match their road win total from last season.

Duquesne (2-0), off to its best start since 2013, heads to Moon Township, Pa. to face Robert Morris (0-1) on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 4:00 p.m.
