Duquesne (8-4-1, 3-1), returns to Atlantic 10 play when it hosts Massachusetts (4-9, 0-4), on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7:00 p.m. on Rooney Field (ESPN+). The Dukes, who enter the weekend in a three way tie for fourth in the
conference, are 6-0-1 at home this season. DU, which is looking to bounce back from a 2-0 non-conference loss at Cleveland State on Tuesday, has won its past two A-10 matches. UMass, which is 2-5 on the road, is hoping to snap an eight-game losing streak. The Minutemen have been held scoreless in their past seven matches. UMass is coming off a 1-0 overtime defeat at No. 24 Yale on Tuesday.
THE SERIES VS. UMASS
- Duquesne leads the overall series 8-6-3, with the two tied at 3-3-1 in matches in Pittsburgh.
- This is just the second meeting between the two since 2012.
- UMass won the last match in the series, by a 5-0 score on Oct. 7, 2017 in Amherst.
- The Minutemen are 0-3-1 in their past four trips to Pittsburgh, with their last Rooney Field win coming on Oct. 14, 2001 (2-1).
- UMass, whose last goal came on Sept. 17 in a 2-1 loss at Bryant (53'), has yet to score in Atlantic 10 play.
- Five of the losses during UMass's current eight game losing streak have come by 1-0 scores. One was 2-1 and the other two 2-0.

- Duquesne is ranked No. 10 in the Southeast Region of the Oct. 15 United Soccer Coaches Poll. This is the fourth time DU has appeared in the poll this season (No. 10 on Sept. 17, No. 7 on Sept. 24 & No. 8 on Oct. 8).
- Duquesne enters the weekend in a three-way tie with Fordham and George Mason for fourth place in the A-10. The top four finishers host first round A-10 Championship games. The Dukes will not face either Fordham or Mason in conference play.
- The Dukes are 6-0-1 at home. DU has gone undefeated at home three times in its 24 previous seasons (7-0-2 in 2002, 5-0 in 2006 & 7-0-2 in 2011). The Dukes have one home game remaining - vs. Saint Louis on Oct. 26 - following the UMass game.
- Three of Duquesne's four losses have come by 2-1 scores. The other was a 2-0 defeat at Cleveland State.
- The Dukes have yet to surrender more than two goals in a game.
- Ten of DU's 13 matches have been decided by one or fewer goals. The exceptions are a 2-0 win at Robert Morris on Sept. 18, a 4-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Oct. 5 and a 2-0 loss at Cleveland State on Oct. 15.
- DU has played in just one match where either team scored more than two goals (a 4-0 Duquesne win over St. Bonaventure on Oct. 5).
- The four goals vs. the Bonnies were DU's most in a conference game since a 4-0 win over George Washington on Oct. 26, 2014.
- Duquesne won a school record six in a row prior to falling at Saint Francis (2-1) on Sept. 24. The six-game streak broke the school record of five set in 2005 and matched in 2006.
- Sophomore forward Manel Busquets leads the Dukes with six goals and 16 points. The six goals are the most by a Duke since Colin Phillips netted 13 in 2015.
- Busquets is second in the A-10 at 1.33 points per game.
- Jack Shearer is second on the team with five goals and Zach Hall is next with four.
- Freshman Nate Dragisich, a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week (Sept. 16 & Oct. 7), leads the team with five assists. He is tied with Busquets and Shearer for the team lead with two game-winning goals. His 26 shots are second to Busquets' 33.
- Senior goalkeeper Robbie McKelvey, the two-time A-10 Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 3 & 23), has 55 saves in 13 games with a 0.90 goals against average. He has five shutouts in 12 starts (vs. Oakland, vs. VMI, at Robert Morris, vs. St. Bonaventure & vs. George Washington) and has yet to give up more than two scores in a game this season. He began the week ranked 13th nationally in total saves.
- Duquesne has surrendered just 12 goals on 188 shots (69 on goal) through 13 matches.
- DU's 19 goals this season have come from six players. Sophomore Manel Busquets (6), first-year St. John's transfer Jack Shearer (5), senior Zach Hall (4) & freshman Nate Dragisich (2) have all scored multiple goals this season.
- Busquets leads the Dukes with 33 shots. Busquets and Shearer (13) are tied for the team lead on shots on goal. Hall and Dragisich (10 each) also have double-digit shots on goal.
- Duquesne is in its seventh season under head coach Chase Brooks. Brooks has led the Dukes to three Atlantic 10 Conference tournament appearances (2013, 2015 & 2016).
- The Dukes return eight field players who started 10 or more games last season, including six sophomores: D Moritz Kappelsberger, D/M Nathan Dossantos, D/M Rob Dymond, F Manel Busquets, D Eric Zech and D Kendall Newman. Newman missed the first five matches of the season due to injury.
- DU has just seven upperclassmen on the roster (seniors Zach Hall, Robbie McKelvey, Owen Rossi, Scott Rissler and injured defender Ryan Landry and juniors Waleed Cherif and Jack Shearer).
- Hall leads all returnees in career games (63) and starts (59). Ryan Landry, who is out for the season (foot injury) was next at 45 and 39. No other returning field player entered the season with more than 16 games played (Dossantos, Kappelsberger & Zech at 16 each).
- The Dukes have 11 first-year players on the 2019 roster including nine freshmen (including one redshirt) and a pair of transfers in junior F Jack Shearer (St. John's) and junior F Waleed Charif (West Liberty). Shearer, a native of Aliquippa, Pa., played in 35 matches with 26 starts in two seasons at SJU.
- DU won back-to-back road games at Robert Morris and Saint Joseph's earlier this season. It was the first time since 2009 that a Dukes' team won two straight on the road.
