Duquesne and George Mason began their series in 1986 on neutral ground in the VCU Tournament in Richmond, Va. – a four-point Patriots victory. The teams split a home-and-home in 1998 and 1998 before Mason joined the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2013-14. The Dukes have won all six contest since the Patriots joined the league.
