PITTSBURGH - Senior midfielder Austin Stout (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South), who was named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer All-Academic Team earlier this week, has earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Team for the second-consecutive year it was announced today.
Stout, an integrated marketing communication major with a 3.97 GPA, was one of 11 named to the District 2 team that encompasses Division I programs in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.
CoSida recognizes eight districts nationally.
Stout will now have his name added to the national Academic All-America ballot which will be voted on by the College Sports Information Director's of America, with the national All-America team to be announced on Dec. 6.
Stout, a third-year transfer from West Virginia, contributed a goal and a pair of assists off the bench for the Dukes. His goal vs. No. 23 Rhode Island proved to be the game-winner. DU's 3-1 win over the Rams was the program's first over a ranked team.
Stout, the 17h player in program history to earn CoSida Academic All-District honors (the 17 have combined to be named a total of 31 times), has the opportunity to become the 12th player in program history to earn Academic All-America honors since 2000. Duquesne's 11 current Academic All-Americans ranks tied for seventh-most among Division I programs.
