PITTSBURGH - Senior midfielder
Noah Mehta (Mississauga, Ontario) was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week and junior goalkeeper
Robbie McKelvey (Dublin, Ohio) was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week for their performance in Duquesne's two matches last week.
Mehta scored a pair of first half goals (3' & 45') to lead the Dukes to a 3-1 upset win over #23 Rhode Island on Saturday. The win was the program's first over a nationally ranked team. McKelvey stopped five shots in an 0-0 draw at Saint Louis and four more in the win over URI. The result at SLU provided the Dukes with their first point in 11 all-time meetings with the Billikens. The lone goal surrendered by McKelvey last week came on a Rhody penalty kick.
This is the first time in school history that Duquesne has had multiple players of the week in the same week.
Duquesne (4-7-3, 2-2-2), riding a three-match unbeaten streak, heads to Olean, N.Y. for its final road game of the season at St. Bonaventure on Saturday. The Dukes enter the battle with the Bonnies with seven points in their past three matches (3-0 win at George Mason, 0-0 draw at Saint Louis and a 3-1 home win over #23 Rhode Island last Saturday).
