Men's XC Finishes Second at George Mason

RESULTSLEESBURG, Va. - The Duquesne men's cross country team placed second at the 2017 George Mason Invitational on Saturday morning at the Oatlands Plantation. The Dukes finished with a score of 66 at the event, topping fellow Atlantic 10 members George Mason in third (79), Davidson fifth (145) and George Washington seventh (201).

St. Joseph's won the meet with a score of 34 on the day.

Senior Rico Galassi (Dickson City, Pa./Holy Cross) led the Duquesne harriers with a fourth-place finish at 25:38.8.

Junior Cordon Louco placed 10th with a time of 26:01.7 for the Dukes, followed by sophomore Jake Heinauer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) in 16th (26:22) and freshman Mark Provenzo (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) 17th (26:23).

Sophomore Jeff Van Kooten (Sewickley, Pa./Central Catholic) rounded out the top five for Duquesne in 19th place, touring the 8k course in 26:26.

The Dukes return to the Steel City for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Schenley Oval.
