NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Duquesne men's cross country team posted a fourth-place finish at the 38th annual National Catholic meet hosted by Notre Dame on Friday evening at Burke Golf Course.
The Dukes recorded a score of 88 at the event highlighted by senior Rico Galassi's (Dickson City, Pa./Holy Cross) 10th-place finish with a time of 25:29.1 on the five-mile course.
Junior Cordon Louco (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) placed 16th with a mark of 25:39.6 followed by sophomore Jeff Van Kooten (Sewickley, Pa./Central Catholic) in 24th at 25:57.8.
Freshman Mark Provenzo (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) crossed the finish line in 26:05.5, good for 29th place while sophomore Jake Heinauer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) finished 31st with a time of 26:14.2.
Dayton won the event with 41 points followed by Notre Dame second (44) and Marquette third (77). Canisius rounded out the top five with a score of 106.
Duquesne is back in action on Sept. 23 at the Saint Vincent Invitational. The race is slated to get underway at 10:45 a.m. ET in Latrobe, Pa.
