NEW ORLEANS -- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently released its preseason regional cross country rankings, with both the Duquesne men's and women's teams earning a spot in the rankings.
The Dukes men sit seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region while the Duquesne women are 10th.
The men's team is coming off a second-place finish in the Atlantic 10 in 2016 to go with a seventh-place showing at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet. Senior Rico Galassi (Dickson City, Pa./Holy Cross) returns in 2017 after capturing the individual title at the Atlantic 10 Championship as a junior in 2016.
The Duquesne women's team placed third at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship. Senior Jenny DelSignore (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) placed seventh at the meet.
The Dukes open the 2017 season this Saturday, Sept. 2 with the Duquesne Duals beginning at 9 a.m. at the Schenley Oval.
