A-10 Championship Bracket

Duquesne opens Atlantic 10 Championship play on Thursday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. against Fordham at Davidson's Alumni Soccer Stadium.

- This is Duquesne's third Atlantic 10 Championship appearance in four seasons under head coach Chase Brooks (2013, 2015 & 2016). It is the tenth appearance in program history (1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016). The Dukes are 2-7-3 all-time at the A-10 Championship.

- The Dukes are looking for their first A-10 Championship win since a 2-1 semifinal victory over host Richmond in 2002. Since that game, DU is 0-5-3 in Championship play. The last time DU advanced was in 2006, following a 0-0 first round tie with Charlotte at Charlotte, N.C. in 2006 (5-4 on penalty kicks).

- A total of nine Dukes have seen action in an A-10 Championship game: Chris Alescio (2013 & 2015), Fredrik Borenstein (2015), Peace Drevitch (2015), Bryan Fegley (2015), Noah Mehta (2015), Nigel Seidu (2015), Jason Twum (2015), Diego Vieira (2015) and Brandon Walbert (2015). Of the nine, seven have started at least once: Alescio (2013 & 2015), Borenstein (2015), Drevitch (2015), Fegley (2015), Seidu (2015), Twum (2015) and Walbert (2015).

- Duquesne, in its 22nd season as a program, enters the A-10 Championship 180-177-50 all time and 97-95-20 in Atlantic 10 play.

- Duquesne's 2016 has been characterized by overtime and late-game heroics. The Dukes have played in a school record 11 overtime matches this season (5 OT & 6 2OT). DU's five OT wins are the most in school history (5-1-5). Six Duquesne's eight wins have come in dramatic fashion, including five on Rooney Field:

Aug. 26 - 2-1 vs. Saint Francis U (100')
* Olav Hovstad scored in the 100th minute to give the Dukes a come-from-behind win
Sept. 9 - 2-1 vs. Wofford (89')
* DU scored twice in the final 5:04, with Fredrik Borenstein netting the gamer in 89th minute
Sept. 11 - 1-0 vs. Canisius (100')
* Austin Stout scored with five seconds left in the first overtime to give Duquesne the win
Sept. 20 - 1-0 at Cleveland State (93')
* Freshman Jallah Acqui scored in the 93rd minute of the 1-0 win
Oct. 8 - 1-0 vs. George Washington (95')
* Zach Hall scored DU's first goal in four games in the 95th minute to defeat GW
Oct. 15 - 1-0 vs. VCU (93')
* Diego Vieira scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 93rd minute

- The Dukes followed the season-opening Saint Francis game with a 1-0 loss at then-No. 17 Kentucky. DU nearly came back from a 3-0 halftime deficit in a 3-2 defeat at Wright State on Labor Day. The Dukes got goals from Zach Hall in the 61st minute and Fredrik Borenstein in the 73rd, but could not find the back of the net again before time expired. DU went eight matches without a loss following the near comeback at WSU. The team that handed DU that loss - Fordham - is the Dukes' first round opponent.

- The Dukes began the week with an NCAA RPI of 106. The only Atlantic 10 schools with lower numbers are Saint Louis at No. 57 and George Washington at No. 98. Fordham is right behind DU at 118.

- Duquesne is ranked 8th in the Midwest in this week's NSCAA Regional Poll. It is the sixth consecutive week the Dukes have been ranked (No. 10, No. 7, No. 8, No. 9 & No. 9 in the five previous weeks).

- Duquesne is tied for the A-10 lead in shutouts (9) and ranks No. 1 in corner kicks (121). DU's 16 goals allowed are the second-fewest in the conference. DU has been issued 16 yellow cards - the fewest in the A-10.

- The Dukes are outscoring opponents 16-8 in the second half and overtime.

- Fifteen of Duquesne's 17 games have been decided by one (or fewer) goals.

- DU has limited 13 of its 17 opponents to one or fewer goals.

- Duquesne has posted nine shutouts, all of which have come it their past 13 games. The nine shutouts are tied for third-most in school history.

- Balance has been the theme for the Dukes who have 11 players with two or more points, and none with more than nine. DU's 17 goals have come from 10 players: Fredrik Borenstein (3), Zach Hall (2), Ryan Landry (2), Ian Larson (2), Austin Stout (2), Jallah Acqui, Chris Alescio, Bryan Fegley, Olav Hovstad and Diego Vieira (plus one own goal).

- Junior midfielder Fredrik Borenstein, DU's top returning point-getter with seven last season, leads the team with three goals and three assists for nine points. The Norway native also leads the team in career goals with nine. Senior Chris Alescio ranks second on the team with six career goals, including one this season.

- Freshman Jallah Acqui was named A-10 co-Rookie of the Week on Sept. 26. The Upper Darby, Pa. native was honored for his game-winning goal in the 93rd minute of DU's 1-0 win at Cleveland State on Sept. 20.

- Freshman Zach Hall (co-Rookie) and Kozlowski (Defensive) both earned A-10 honors for the week of October 3-9. Hall netted the game-winner in the 95th minute vs. GW (1-0) and Kozlowski stopped eight shots in a 0-0 tie at St. Bonaventure and the 1-0 win over the Colonials. It was the first time since 2003 that Duquesne had two players earn A-10 mention in the same week.

- Ryan Landry was named co-Rookie of the Week on Oct. 24 following a three-point week that included his first career goal, at Saint Joseph's.

- Duquesne's first three opponents: Saint Francis U (2nd in Northeast), then-No. 17 Kentucky (1st in Conference USA) and Wright State (T1st in Horizon) were all picked first or second in their conference's preseason poll.
