KINGSTON, R.I. - The #25 ranked Duquesne women's basketball team extended its winning streak to 15 straight after a 79-70 victory over Rhode Island at the Ryan Center on Wednesday night.

April Robinson scored 29 points and Amadea Szamosi added a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Dukes (16-1, 4-0 A-10).

Samantha Tabakman scored a game-high 30 and added 10 boards for the Rams (7-9, 1-3 A-10).

Rhode Island started out hot in the 1st quarter, making six of their first nine shots to take an 18-12 lead heading into the media timeout. Duquesne was able to cut the deficit to a basket at the end of the quarter, trailing 20-18.

The Dukes took their first lead of the game at 26-25 on a pair of Deva'Nyar Workman free throws at 7:09 of the 2nd quarter. Leading 33-32 with 4:15 to play, Robinson scored nine straight points followed by a 3-pointer by Emilie Gronas which gave the Dukes their first double-digit lead of the game - 44-23 at the 1:54 mark of the quarter. Another Robinson basket and a pair Workman free throws ended the quarter with Duquesne on a 16-0 run, taking a 49-32 lead into halftime.

URI used a 15-4 run in the 3rd quarter to make the score 53-47 heading into the media timeout. The Dukes responded by going on a 13-5 run ending with a Robinson 3-pointer with 38 seconds left to make the score 66-52.

URI made it a single-digit game at 76-67 on Dominique Ward's 3-pointer at the 7:00 mark of the 4th quarter, but this would be as close as the Rams would come to tying the contest.

Although Rhode Island outshot Duquesne 45.5 percent to 37.1 percent, the Dukes outrebound the Rams 41-to-35 and had five fewer turnover (16-11). URI scored 34 points in the paint to Duquesne's 14.

Next up for Duquesne will be George Washington (14-3, 4-0 A-10). The Dukes and Colonials will meet Sunday afternoon at the Palumbo Center with a noon starting time. The game will be aired live on ESPNU and streamed live on WatchESPN.
