PITTSBURGH - Amadea Szamosi's layup with 1.5 seconds left sent the game into overtime and the Duquesne defense did not surrender a single point in the extra period in their 58-51 victory over Richmond on Wednesday night at the Palumbo Center. The win was the seventh straight for the Dukes (18-8, 10-3 A-10).

April Robinson led the Dukes with 17 points. Belma Nurkic added 11. Olivia Bresnahan pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds. Robinson tied a career-high with nine rebounds.

Janelle Hubbard scored a game-high 21 points for the Spiders (16-10, 8-5 A-10). Lauren Tolson also had double-figure scoring with 10. Liz Brown and Genevieve Okoro each pulled down 10 rebounds.

Richmond jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before Robinson got the Dukes on the board with a layup at 16:40 of the 1st half. She followed 42 seconds later with her 75th 3-pointer of the season - a new single-season school record. The Spiders would have a two-possession lead until back-to-back layups from Stasia King made the score 16-14 at the 9:01 mark. However UR would follow with a 3-pointer by Hubbard which started a 10-0 run, giving Richmond a 26-14 lead with 6:28 remaining. Tolson's layup gave the Spiders their largest lead of the game - 13 points at 32-19 with 1:32 left. Jumpers by Robinson and Bresnahan cut the deficit to nine points sending the game into halftime with Richmond ahead 32-23.

Duquesne trailed by two possessions until Nurkic's free throws got Duquesne within three points at 42-39 with 9:11 remaining in the 2nd half. The Dukes had five chances to tie game, but did not until Deva'Nyar Workman's foul shots deadlocked the score at 46-46 with 3:45 left. Duquesne took a 49-48 lead on Nurkic's and-1 with 49 seconds left. On the ensuing possession, Nurkic stole Okoro's pass and took the ball the length of the court, but her shot rolled out. Richmond's Brown scored with 26 seconds left and was fouled on the play. She converted the foul shot giving the Spiders a 51-49 lead. Duquesne missed their shot on the next possession and fouled Okoro, who missed both of her foul shots. Workman rebounded the ball with 13 seconds remaining. She took the ball the length of the court and dribbled under the hoop. With 5.2 seconds, she picked up her dribble and found Szamosi in the paint for the game-tying layup.

The Duquesne defense held Richmond to 0-for-7 shooting in the overtime. Nurkic's free throws with 2:34 remaining was all the scoring the Dukes would need. Duquesne would get two more free throws from Nurkic, a pair from Workman and one from Szamosi to outscore Richmond 7-0 in overtime.

The Dukes return to Palumbo on Saturday when they host Rbode Island at 2:00 p.m. It is senior day. Nurkic, Jose-Ann Johnson, Bresnahan, King and head student manager Monica Chmiel will be honored.
