Nov. 24, 2015 Duquesne's All-Time Academic All-Americans
NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - Duquesne graduate student men's soccer player Colin Phillips (Ottawa, Ontario) has earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division I Academic All-America Team it was announced today.
Phillips, who is working toward his doctor of physical therapy degree with a 3.92 GPA, is the tenth Duquesne student-athlete - across all sports - to earn First Team Academic All-America honors.
A two-time member of the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, Phillips was a First Team All-Atlantic 10 performer in 2015. The Ottawa, Ontario native finished the season as the Atlantic 10 leader in goals (13) and points (31) as well as goals, points and shots per game. His 13 goals and 31 points rank second on DU's all-time single-season list.
Phillips is the ninth Duquesne men's soccer player to earn Academic All-America honors (a total of 15 times). He is the fourth in the history of the program - and first since Noah Salsi in 2005 - to earn First Team honors.
Duquesne has had a total of 38 student-athletes earn Academic All-America honors a total of 56 times since the inception of the award (see attached PDF for a complete list).
