Sept. 2, 2014 PITTSBURGH - Duquesne senior midfielder Austin Lange (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kiski Area) has been named Atlantic 10 co-Player of the Week for for his performance in DU's two games last week.
The 5-10, 155-pounder, who attempted nine shots in two games, posted Duquesne's first hat trick since 2003 in DU's 4-2 win over Saint Francis U. The three-goal effort (5', 15' & 55')was the first by a Duke since Damian Pottinger scored a school record four goals in a 5-0 win over Saint Joseph's on Oct. 17, 2003. It was just the third hat trick in school history (Fred Olson scored three times in an 8-1 win over Niagara on Sept. 24, 1995).
Lange shares the award with George Mason's Timi Mulgrew, who scored four goals in two matches last week.
Duquesne (1-0-1) returns to action on Friday as host of the Duquesne Invitational. Niagara and Bowling Green kick off the event at 3:00 p.m. Friday, followed by Duquesne vs. Binghamton at 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, Niagara and Binghamton meet at 11:00 a.m. with the Dukes hosting Bowling Green at 2:00 in the last of the four matches. Admission for all matches is free.
