QUICK RECAP: Oregon State's Timmy Mueller found the back of the net in the 58th minute to hand Duquesne its first loss of the season by a 2-1 count in the second round of the Hensor/Zaher Nike Classic at OSU's Paul Lorenz Field. Duquesne got on the board first when Kadeem Pantophlet, who scored DU's lone goal in Friday's tie with Portland, took a long pass from Mamadou Traore and looped a header past OSU keeper Nolan Wirth. Oregon State, who is in the "also receiving votes" category of this week's NSCAA Top 25, tied it less than two minutes later on a shot by Devonte Small following a scramble in the box. The match remained knotted until Mueller slipped an unassisted shot by DU's Sam Frymier. Oregon State outshot the Dukes 16-14 and had a 6-2 advantage in corners. Frymier had four saves for Duquesne.
NOTE: Junior forward Kadeem Pantophlet and junior goalkeeper Sam Frymier were both named to the all-tournament team.
FROM COACH BROOKS: "The two games in Oregon were a good experience for the guys. I liked the way they handled themselves. Today's game was pretty evenly matched. It says a lot for our depth that we were able to go toe-to-toe with a Pac-12 school. Coming West is always tough and I think the team handled it well. The key to us, is learning how to capitalize on opportunities as we move forward."
UP NEXT: The Dukes play their third consecutive road game when they head to Dayton, Ohio to face Wright State on Friday, Sept. 19 at 8:00 p.m.
