PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne women's basketball team dropped a 67-57 decision to the University of Pittsburgh in the annual City Game on Sunday night at the Petersen Events Center.

April Robinson led the Dukes with 16 points. Wumi Agunbiade added 14 and Olivia Bresnahan 11 for the Dukes who close out the non-conference season 8-5.

The Dukes held Pitt to just 2-of-14 shooting as they took an early 8-2 lead heading into the 12-minute media timeout in the first half. Duquesne maintained the lead until Kiesel's jumper with 4:53 remaining in the half tied the game at 15-15 - she followed with a steal-and-basket two possessions later to give the Panthers their first lead of the game at 17-16 at the 4:04 mark. Bresnahan's layup with 2:07 left ended the Dukes' 8-minute field goal drought, making the score 20-18 in favor of the Panthers. Kiesel closed out the 1st half scoring with a layup which send Pitt into halftime leading 26-20.

With Panthers up nine points at the 16:34 mark of the 2nd half, the Dukes got back-to-back baskets from Jose-Ann Johnson and Bresnahan to get within five points at 34-29 with 14:54 remaining. However, Pitt would hold Duquesne without a field goal for the next seven minutes, but was not able to gain any more ground. With the Panthers leading 44-40 with 5:08 remaining, they used an 11-4 run to take an 11-point lead with 2:49 to play. The closest the Dukes came to tying the game was six points at 63-57 with 21 seconds remaining.

Up next for the Dukes is the 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference opener. Duquesne will host longtime rival St. Bonaventure on Jan. 1st. The game will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
