Duquesne University freshman Simon Gomez (North York, Ontario/Don Mills Collegiate Institute) has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 12. It is the second straight Rookie of the Week accolade for him.

Gomez scored two goals in Sunday's 3-1 victory over Army at the Pitt/Nike Tournament. He tallied the first goal of the contest in the ninth minute before adding an insurance goal in the 59th minute. Gomez leads the Dukes in goals with four and in scoring with nine points.

The Red and Blue return to action on Sept. 18th as they host Detroit at 7:00 p.m. at Rooney Field.
