Four Duquesne University men's soccer players received Atlantic 10 post-season awards as voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors. Senior defender Alex Trujillo (Whitby, Ontario/Father Leo J. Austin) was named to the All-Conference Second Team, freshman forward Joshua Patterson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was named to the All-Rookie Team and junior midfielders Ben Horner (Butler, Pa./Butler) and Stefan Lundberg (Lower Burrell, Pa./Kiski Area) were named to the All-Academic Team.
Trujillo anchored a Duquesne defense that allowed just 20 goals in 18 contests. In addition to his defensive presence, he tallied seven points on three goals and one assist and was responsible for two game-winning goals.
Patterson led the Dukes in scoring with 12 points on six goals. He scored a team-high four game-winning goals versus Niagara, Buffalo, Canisius and Temple while also scoring versus Michigan State and Saint Joseph's.
Horner, who boasts a 3.95 cumulative grade point average as a finance major, led the Dukes in assists with five and was third on the team with seven points. His lone goal came in a 1-1 tie with La Salle.
Lundberg finished the season fourth on the team in scoring with five points on a penalty kick goal versus Buffalo and three assists. He is an english major with a 3.90 cumulative gpa.
The Dukes finished the 2009 season in seventh place in the 14-team Atlantic 10 Conference with a 9-7-2 record and a 4-4-1 A-10 slate.
