Dukes Win National Catholic Championship

Duquesne's cross country team captured first place of 33 schools at Friday's National Catholic Championship at Notre Dame. The Dukes edged the host Fighting Irish by one team point, 44-45.

Senior Josh Eddy paced the Dukes, finishing third overall with a time of 25:00. Following close behind was fellow senior Derek Dutille in fourth with a time of 25:03. Sophomore Scott Van Kooten placed third for DU and 10th overall in 25:27, while sophomore Mike Stolar was 11th in 25:32. Senior Shane Sarver rounded out the top five in 16th place in 25:48.

The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, Oct. 3 as they compete in the Paul Short Invitational.
