CORAL GABLES, FLA. - Tuesday's conclusion to the UM Holiday Classic went exactly as the Duquesne women's basketball hoped…especially after ending the first half on a 41-13 run en route to an 84-54 victory against Brown.
Four players scored in double figures, led by Kristi Little and Alex Gensler who scored 12 points each for the Dukes who improved to 10-4. Samantha Thompson added a career-high 11 points and Keri Pryor scored 10 points. Amanda Peck had a game-best eight rebounds.
Sarah Delk finished with 12 points for the Bears who dropped to 1-10 on the season.
The Dukes and Bears both started out cold from the floor, combining for just 12 points in the games first eight minutes. A Keri Pryor jumper ignited an 11-0 run over the next two minutes that put DU in the driver's seat the rest of the way.
Duquesne finished the game shooting 52.4 percent and made half of their 3-point tries (8-for-16).
Gensler, making her first-ever start, scored all 12 of her points from beyond the arc, draining 4-of-8 attempts. The four 3-pointers is a team season-high.
The Dukes will start 2009 by hosting Missouri Jan. 3 before opening Atlantic 10 Conference play at Xavier Jan. 14.
