VESTAL, N.Y. - Rachel Frederick recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Duquesne women's basketball team improved to 5-0 after their 68-56 victory over Binghamton Tuesday night.
Kristi Little had a team-best 13 points and Alex Gensler scored 12 points off the bench.
Muffy Sadler scored a game-best 18 points for Bearcats who fell to 2-3 on the season.
The Dukes started the game off on an 11-2 run and never looked back. DU had the hot hand from behind the arc in the first half, connecting on 5-of-9 attempts and Dukes hit on 13-of-26 (.481) field goals.
A 3-pointer from Frederick gave the Dukes their largest lead of the half, 20 points, with 3:07 remaining in the half. She capped the first half scoring with a layup with 34 seconds remaining in the first half to give DU a 38-21 lead going into halftime.
BU got within 11 points on a 3-point play from Theodora Panteli, but Keri Pryor answered with a 3-pointer followed by a Frederick 3-pointer and jumper by Pryor to give Duquesne a 19-point lead, 55-36.
A Sadler 3-pointer with 44 seconds remaining closed out the scoring with the Dukes winning 68-56 and getting one win closer to their best-ever start to a season.
Duquesne returns home to the Palumbo Center to host Niagara Friday night. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
GAME NOTES
- Duquesne tied their season-best with nine 3-pointers and shot a season-high .529 from behind the arc
- The Dukes also set a season-high with 17 foul shots
- This is the second time this season Frederick had pulled down double-digit rebounds (10 vs. Morehead State)
