Red and Blue Fall to Camels in Overtime, 2-1

Duquesne's men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Campbell in Friday's first round of Richmond's UR Nike Challenge Cup.

Senior Travis MacKenzie recorded his first goal of the season off the opening kick-off just 19 seconds into the contest to give DU a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Alex Trujillo and junior Drew Jeffery assisted on the play. The one-goal advantage held up for the rest of the first half before Campbell evened the score in the 49th minute on a penalty kick.

After scoreless play for the remainder of the second frame, Campbell scored just 1:14 into the first overtime to capture the win.

MacKenzie managed three shots on goal while freshman goalkeeper Chris Torres made 12 saves.

The Dukes return to action on Saturday as they take on Binghamton at 5:30 pm in the second round of the tournament.
