ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - Duquesne (7-18, 2-10) dropped their ninth game in a row Sunday afternoon with a 71-59 loss at St. Bonaventure.
The Bonnies battled back from an early first quarter 11-point deficit to tie the contest at 36 with 17:56 remaining in regulation. Dana Mitchell's jumper six seconds later gave the Bonnies their first lead of the game, 38-36, which also put them ahead for good.
The Dukes were led by senior Carmen Bruce's game-high 21 points on 8-11 shooting. Juniors Jade Singleton and Jocelyn Chandler added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Singleton led DU with six rebounds.
Mitchell led St. Bonaventure with 19 points and Audrey Latendresse had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ten of Ashley Edwards 16 points came from the charity stripe.
DU took a 34-30 lead into the half as Chandler and Singleton led the Red & Blue with eight points each. The Dukes shot 15-30 from the field in the first stanza for 50 percent. The Red & Blue connected on only 34.5 percent (8-23) in the second half.
The Dukes' return home for the final two games of the season as they host Temple Friday night and Saint Joseph's Sunday afternoon.
Game notes
- Duquesne hit a three-pointer for the 177th game in a row, the 13th longest streak in the NCAA.
- Senior Loui Hall's eight points gives her 1,317 in her Duquesne career. She is now in sixth place on the Dukes' all-time list.
