Pittsburgh, Pa. - Duquesne (7-16, 2-8) dropped their seventh consecutive game Sunday afternoon after a 69-57 Atlantic 10 Conference loss to Richmond.
The Spiders' Danielle Bell's three-pointer broke a 44-44 second half tie and started Richmond (11-14, 5-5) on a 17-6 run which put them in them in the lead for good. Six different Spiders scored during the 5:29 run, which gave them a 61-52 lead with 5:35 left in the contest.
UR's Johanna McKnight tied the game-high with 15 points on 6-9 shooting, including a 3-3 showing from behind the arc. As a team, the Spiders shot 50 percent (25-50). Nikita Thomas missed a double-double by one point scoring nine and grabbing a game-best 10 rebounds.
Jocelyn Chandler had 15 points and Jade Singleton added 14 for Duquesne, which shot 41.8 percent (23-55).
The Spiders, who trailed 32-27 at halftime, caught fire in the second half going 14-25 from the field for 56 percent. DU only connected on 29 percent of their shots (9-31) in the second half after hitting 58.3 percent (14-24) in the first stanza.
The Dukes have their final road trip of the season beginning Friday at Massachusetts and ending Sunday at St. Bonaventure. The Red & Blue return home for the final two games of the season on Feb. 23 vs. Temple and Feb. 25 against Saint Joseph's.
