PRINCETON, N.J. - Four Dukes scored in double-figures as Jade Singleton's career-high 23 point led all scorers as the Duquesne women's basketball team defeated Princeton 71-58 Saturday night.
The Dukes controlled the tempo of the entire game as a Singleton layup with 4:39 left in the first half gave DU a 23-22 lead they would hold the rest of the contest. Duquesne took a 35-28 lead into the half.
A Samantha Pollino layup five minutes into the second half gave the Dukes their largest lead of the game, 19 points, 52-33. The Tigers would get within nine points at 65-56 with 1:02 remaining in the game, but Duquesne hit six foul shots in the final minute to improve their record to 4-3 on the season with the 71-58 victory.
Samantha Pollino scored 14 points on 6-12 shooting and Kelly Britcher tied her personal-best with 12 points. Ten of Kristi Little's 13 points came from the foul line.
Princeton was led by Shelbie Pool with 12 points and Meagan Cowher with 10 points.
Duquesne out-rebounded Princeton 43-34 and outscored the Tigers 30-28 in the paint. The Dukes shot 25-58 (.431) from the floor and was 14-19 (.737) from the foul line.
DU opens their 3-game homestand Tuesday night against Binghamton. Following the game against the Bearcats, Duquesne will host West Virginia Dec. 7 and IPFW Dec. 16.
GAME NOTES - Singleton's game-best 11 rebounds completed her second double-double of the season.
