Mike Dunphy Named Assistant Coach

First year Duquesne University head men's soccer coach Jake Ouimet recently named Mike Dunphy as an assistant coach. Dunphy comes to the Dukes from North Carolina where he was a teacher and boys and girls soccer coach at Cary High School.

Dunphy posted a 196-81-26 record in his eight seasons as the Cary High coach. His teams won three conference regular season championships, four conference tournament championships and he was a two-time Tri-Seven Conference and Regional Coach of the Year.

Before accepting the post at Cary, Dunphy was a coach for the Capital Area Soccer League's '82 White Elite team from 1997-99 and was the coach at the Smith Academy in Hatfield, MA in 1996-97.

A 1996 graduate of the University of Maine, Orono, Dunphy was a four-year scholarship player for the Black Bears. He is UMO's all-time leader in assists with 18 and the all-time leading scorer with 70 points. In addition, he was a two-time North Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team member.
